Just before the Buluh River meets the Batang River there is a small waterfall. You have to walk up a small creek about 100 meters to reach the waterfall. Great for sitting under to get a jungle massage!
There is also another larger waterfall about an hours trek up the Buluh River. Most of the way you need to walk in the river as there are no jungle trails and some sections you need to swim up river.

Just across from the Jungle Lodge is a small cave with a hot spring pouring hot water into the river. There is a large log tied up at the river bank which allows you to lay back and enjoy the mixture of the hot spring waters and cold water flowing down the river.

For general visitors, you can enjoy Batang Serangan River by riding on inner tubes that have been modified to ensure safety. You will feel like you are dancing on the river swell using inner tube and a safety jacket as well as a helmet. We make sure that you have great experience. For Students, river activities will also focus on enhancing their knowledge about the river, such as the value of river, animals and plants that live in it, etc. Professional guides with water skills will guide all activities conducted in the river.
Fun in the river
Experience the river safari by raft. Float through ravines with high rock face and see the iridescent colors of the king fishers, or maybe the others gamboling along the shore. This is often the best way to get a closer view of the wildlife, who feels less threatened by people floating gently by.
Swim in the clear blue waters, and then allow the river to carry you home.
Relish the exhilaration of tubing down river explore the caves as you drift down stream and negotiate rapids perhaps stopping to see the local orange and durian, groves and try the succulent fruits.
You could just relax and let your stresses drift away in one of the serene hot spring nearby unwind under tempting cool waterfall or just take a dip and swim in one of the clear jungle rivers.
Experience the traditional way of life as you cross the river in a rustic dugout canoe and stay in the friendly, family atmosphere of one of the two lodges perched above the Buluh River.
While you settle to a sumptuous dinner, watch monkey playing or some of the amazing birds flitting from tree to tree.
In the evening perhaps join the local people as they play guitars and sing Karonese songs, or be lulled to sleep by the gentle sounds of the rainforest at night.

Visitors can take a close look at Tangkahan Elephants that have been a great help to conservation efforts especially around Tangkahan forests in the Gunung Leuser National Park area. The elephants and their tames help monitor the forest and keep the forest save from illegal logger and hunters. You can have a ride on these amazing animals or watch them take a bath or even bath with them.
Experience time with elephant
Ride patrol elephants on a choice of treks with a well-designed and comfortable howdah to experience the adventure of wildlife patrol. Steep slopes and dense vegetation bring you the excitement of the jungle. At the end of the trek you can bathe with the elephant as they spray water to cool off in the forest river. You can join the bathing twice a day 8:30- 9:30 am in the morning, and 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the afternoon, and choice your elephant for a hand feeding. According to the senior mahout the bathing time is the golden time to establish an emotional contact between this social animal and mahout.

For elephant enthusiasts there is a chance to learn how to handle Sumatran in bean elephant’s mahout package. It takes only 3 days to learn to use the basic commands and be able to handle the animal by your own. You will experience all the works that a mahout does to care for the elephant, including bathing the elephant, cooking its food supplement, and riding an elephant by yourself! At night time, there will be a slide program on the conservation and basic biology of the elephant, you can also discuss in more detail about elephant history in Sumatra with our friendly mahout.
Take home an elephant souvenir. Various items from t-shirt, hat, elephant jewelry and mahout personal tools are available at the local souvenir soup.
Be swept away on raft rides, tube over rapids and through caves. Taste the sweet oranges at the local orange groves, all accompanied by the gentle call of the argus pheasant and the cry of the gibbons.
